These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the PageLock iOS application (“App”) provided by PageLock (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PageLock, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

PageLock is a digital wellbeing tool that helps users reduce compulsive app usage by adding intentional friction. The App allows you to:

  • Select apps on your device to lock.
  • Unlock locked apps by scanning a page from a physical book (reading verification) or by waiting through a short timed break.

PageLock uses Apple's Screen Time API and on-device frameworks to provide this functionality. The App does not guarantee any specific behavioral outcome.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App in accordance with all applicable laws.
  • Not attempt to circumvent, reverse-engineer, or tamper with the App's functionality.
  • Not use the App in any way that could interfere with other users' devices or Apple's services.
  • Understand that the App is a self-improvement tool and not a substitute for professional medical or psychological advice.

4. Purchases and Subscriptions

PageLock may offer in-app purchases or subscriptions. All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and conditions.

  • Subscription payments are charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy.

5. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the App — including but not limited to design, text, graphics, logos, and software — are owned by PageLock and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our written permission.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • The reading verification will work perfectly in all conditions.
  • The App will achieve any specific results in changing your phone usage habits.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PageLock and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

  • Your use or inability to use the App.
  • Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or device.
  • Any other matter relating to the App.

8. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle (and do not handle) your data.

9. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the updated date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which PageLock operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
